  • Introduction

The Fisheries AquaRanch™ is a low-maintenance, highly productive recirculating aquaculture system.  It has become very popular for three main reasons:

    1. It is simple to use, even for a beginner.

    2. It is extremely easy to clean and maintain.

    3. It has the capacity for growing high volumes of fish more economically than any other system of its kind.

    Simplicity & Efficiency

In the Fisheries AquaRanch™, the Fecal/Particle Clarifier is the largest part of the filtration system. It is the component that sets these systems apart from any other aquaculture system. It is the most efficient way of removing solids from water. The Fisheries AquaRanch™ is the best aquaculture system of its kind for water clarity. Yet it is also extremely easy to clean. The second largest part of the filtration system is the Biological-filter. Our high quality Bio-Filter has Bio-Media that regularly gets aerated. This helps keep the Ammonia and Nitrite levels under control. When using a round culture tank, the tank is virtually self cleaning and the water has great clarity. The circular motion of the water propels the feces and particulates into the Drain System through the center drain and then into the Clarifier. The effluent settles and is easily flushed out the Clarifier drain through a gate valve. Then the Clarifier is re-filled with water and the system continues its course through the Airlift and back into the culture tank. Even while the Clarifier is being cleaned, the culture tank is continuously being circulated with Directional Aerators. The system runs off an Air Blower which is much more effecient than a Water Pump. The Fisheries AquaRanch™ is the epitomy of ease and cleanliness.

    Capacity & Quality

The Fisheries AquaRanch™ is designed to grow fish by commercial standards. Many growers have attained 1/2 pound of fish per gallon of culture tank water without the addition of pure oxygen. By adding Aquaponics to the system, some growers have attained a pound per gallon. Here at AquaRanch™ Industries, we believe that farm raised fish are increasingly in demand for three reasons. First, farm cultured fish generally taste better and have a more mild flavor than their native counterparts. Second, the native supplies of seafood are continually being diminished beyond their ability to rebound, due to overfishing and pollution. (See National Geographic, November, 1995) And third, there are many health benefits from eating fish, including low fat and low cholesterol. The Center of Marine Biotechnology has estimated that the demand for aquaculture products is going to increase by 700%. In the aquaculture industry, the Fisheries AquaRanch™ systems offer the best in water clarity, ease in cleaning, and production per gallon.

    The Fisheries AquaRanch™ Variations

The Fisheries AquaRanch™ systems come in Single Units or Pods. A single unit has a Tank and a Filtration Unit, which includes a Clarifier, a Biological-filter, and Directional Aerators.  A pod has two Tanks and a Filtration Unit, which includes a Clarifier, a Biological-filter, and Directional Aerators. The Fisheries AquaRanch™ indoor recirculating systems vary in size from compact to complex. They range from a 140 gallon single unit small hobbyist system to a 10,500 gallon commercial pod system.  Our most popular school system is the Fisheries AquaRanch™ 600 Gallon single unit. Our large commercial pod systems use a PVC liner in a round culture tank. These liners can have any size fitting, for inlets and outlets, bonded directly to it. The small commercial systems and the school systems come with Polyethylene culture tanks.

Fisheries AquaRanch™ Large Commercial Pod Systems

The large AquaRanch™ Indoor recirculating commercial pod systems are built as large as 10,500 gallons. The tanks for the AquaRanch™ systems range in size up to 15' in Diameter. We generally recommend using Corrugated Steel Rings as the side walls for the tank. Our PVC liners are placed in the tank and fittings for an airlift inlet and for a drainage outlet are bonded directly to the liner. To learn more, go to Liners. In the picture to the right, a grower in Oklahoma shows two AquaRanch™ commercial pods systems, before adding water. In this room he has five pods, which consists of ten 9' diameter tanks with corrugated steel ring side walls, ten biological-filters, and five clarifiers. He will be using these systems to raise hybrid striped bass.

    Fisheries AquaRanch™ Commercial Pod Systems

Our commercial pod systems come mainly in three sizes: 1,200 gallon; 1,900 gallon; and 3,000 gallon. These systems have two Polyethylene culture tanks which are connected to a Fecal/Particle Clarifier and to a Biological Filter. The two tank arrangement offers the grower the capability to culture two different species or two different sizes of fish at the same location. These systems produce 1/2 pound of fish per gallon of culture tank water. They are simple to use and easy to maintain. These systems are an excellent option for both the experienced and the amateur in commercial fish farming. See Pricing. Learn more about the Components.

    Single Unit Systems

Our single units are great for classroom Education, for a beginner in commercial fish farming, and for a hobbyist. Our systems are complete recirculating systems that are simple to install. Numbered and lettered pieces make assembly a cinch. Our small single units are commonly called school systems. Mathematics, mechanics, nutrition, marketing, and many other skills can be learned from working with our systems. These systems are great for a novice! They are simple to use, easy to clean and maintain, and produce a manageable amount of fish. The commercial fish farmer can use these systems for fry, brood stock, or sales. Fisheries AquaRanch™ 1000 Gallon Large School/Small Commercial System

The 1000 gallon large school system is often called the small commercial system due to its capacity. This system can produce 400 pounds of fish! It is easy to maintain and yet has the potential for heavy loading. By adding a window to the tank the system can be used for display and sales. A commercial grower will never outgrow this system because it can be used for purging, holding broodstock, and for raising fry. See Pricing
